Terms and Conditions for Membership and Events

1.  Introduction

1.1 This document sets out the rules governing membership of the Water Industry Forum (WIF) and the events organised by WIF. 

1.2 WIF is owned by Water Industry Forum Limited, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.

1.3 WIF membership is divided into the following membership categories:

"Senior Partner"

"Industry Partner"

"Full Member"

"Associate Member"

"Industry Associate"

1.4 WIF reserves the right to vary these categories from time to time without notice.

1.5 Every member is bound by all of these rules while it remains a member of WIF. 

2.  Acceptance as a Member

2.1 Applications to become a "Full Member" or "Associate Member" must be submitted using the on-line application form.

2.2 Admission as a "Senior Partner", "Industry Partner" and "Industry Associate" is by invitation from the WIF Chief Executive only. Applications for these membership categories should be made in writing to the WIF Chief Executive.

2.3 All applicants must ensure that the information submitted in any application and any additional information provided is fair, complete and accurate.

2.4 Acceptance as a WIF member is at the sole discretion of the WIF Chief Executive with reference to the relevant membership criteria.

3.  Member criteria

3.1 To be eligible for membership of WIF you must be an organisation based in the UK and active in the UK water sector.

3.2 To become a "Full Member" or "Associate Member" you must be one of the following, with significant activity in the water sector: 

Asset owning organisations which provide public water services

Charities

Water user representative organisations

Funding & investor organisations

Government departments

Local government departments

Networking organisations

Media organisations

Professional associations

Regulators

Research organisation

Supplier organisations actively involved in supplying the UK water industry with water and waste water products and services

Trade associations

Training associations

3.3 To become a "Senior Partner" you must be a UK asset owning organisation which provides public water services.

3.4 To become an "Industry Partner" you must be a tier one supplier to the UK water sector or a key UK water sector stakeholder.

3.5 To become an "Industry Associate" you must be a UK regulator or not-for-profit organisation active in the UK water sector.

3.6 "Senior Partners", "Industry Partners" and "Full Members" are those which have been accepted as eligible, have paid the relevant membership fee and have had their application confirmed in writing.

3.7 "Associate Members" are those which have been accepted as eligible and had their application confirmed in writing.

4.  Membership Services

4.1 WIF will endeavour to provide the range of membership services for members as set out under "Become a new member" on the WIF website.

4.2 WIF reserves the right to vary these services from time to time without notice.

5.  Conduct

5.1 Every WIF member must ensure that it updates WIF of any relevant changes (including contact details or any issue relevant to the criteria for membership).

5.2 The primary contact is responsible for updating the data held on the website relevant to the company. 

6. Annual Subscriptions

6.1 The current annual subscription rates for each membership category are set out under "Become a new member" on the WIF website.

6.2 All membership subscriptions cover a 12 month period from the commencement date on the membership invoice.

6.3 Membership will lapse 30 days after the commencement date on the membership invoice if no payment has been received. 

6.4 There is no annual subscription for "Industry Associates".  However "Industry Associates" are required to promote the Water Industry Forum on their own website in lieu of an annual subscription.

6.5 Subscriptions are not refundable under any circumstances.

6.6 The WIF Chief Executive may vary subscription rates at any time.  Please note that the cost of annual subscription will be reviewed periodically.

6.7 Payments for membership may be made by BACS transfer or cheques.

7. Events

7.1 WIF reserves the right to change the content and timing of the programme, the speakers, the date or the venue at any time.

7.2 Event Registration, Cancellations and Refunds

Upon receipt of registration for an event, your place(s) will be confirmed. Any cancellation must be received in writing, up to 28 days before the event. After this date a fee may/will be charged.  We regret that no refund can be given on cancellations received less than 7 days before the event. Substitutions may be made at any time. 

7.3 Payments for events may be made by BACS transfer, cheques or credit/debit cards.

8.  Expulsion

8.1 The WIF Chief Executive may expel any member where they are in breach of this agreement.

9. Data protection and related matters

9.1 No Member shall use any trademark or intellectual property right of WIF without the prior written approval of the WIF Chief Executive. No member shall use the WIF logo or words “Member of the Water Industry Forum”

9.2 WIF will use the information provided by members (including the information provided on application forms) for the following purposes: administration of membership records; advertising, marketing and public relations for WIF and contacting you with other information relating to the activities of WIF.

9.3 Any communications you send to the website are on a non-confidential basis and WIF is under no obligation to refrain from reproducing, publishing or otherwise using them in any way or for any purpose.

10. General

10.1 WIF may amend these terms and conditions from time to time. You will be bound by any changes we may make to these terms of use and therefore we recommend that you view the current version from time to time by clicking on the link from the website.
