Case Study - Powerrun Project Management Ltd

WIF member, Powerrun is nearing completion of its largest ever single contract

Powerrun Project Management Ltd is nearing completion of its largest ever single contract, the construction of the Transfer Shaft Pump Station at Thames Waters Coppermills W.T.W. Part of the London Ring Main Extension project, the order comprises of the design, fabrication, FBE coating and on site mechanical installation and pressure testing of various 1800mm, 1400mm and 900mm diameter pump suction and delivery pipework.  The pipework, all of which was manufactured at the companies fabrication facility here in Keighley, West Yorkshire, was installed together with free issue valves and pump sets within a 15-metre diameter x 28-metre deep pump shaft.  The installation, which presented several challenges to the site team, included an 1800mm isolation gate valve weighing in at a whopping 17 Tonnes.  When complete, and in normal operation, the pump station will be capable of delivering 160Ml/d of potable water into the Thames Water Ring Main system.  The volume of water in the pump station pipework itself will be in excess of 467,000 litres.
