Case Study - Pulsonic Technologies Ltd

Pulsonic Technologies working on pH balancing

Cadbury Trebot Bassett underground pumping stationCadbury Trebor Bassett consulted Pulsonic Technologies with the problem of erosion in a new underground pumping station.

Pulsonic Technologies identified that the problem was due to the degeneration of a liquorice waste stream into organic acids with a pH <3. This acidic waste was attacking the concrete rings in the pumping station pit, which led to a breach of the chamber into the surrounding water table. This had all happened within a time period of only 4 months.

Pulsonic Technologies also identified that the waste stream which was subsequently fed into a Bioreactor was too acidic to allow efficient bacterial action in the reactor.

Pulsonic Technologies solution was to install a pH balancing system in the pit consisting of an aeration mixer and a proportional pH dosing control system. Using proportional control meant that the pH levels could be kept within a tight band and minimise the use of caustic, hence keeping costs to a minimum.

From supply of the storage tank, installation of the pumps and instrumentation and system commissioning Pulsonic Technologies once again provided a total solution.
