Catchment Conference: Informing Government’s 25 Year Plan for the Environment

Wednesday 30th November 2016 9:00am - 5:00pm

Event Description

Our water environment is affected by every activity that takes place on land, and vice versa. Defra’s 2013 policy framework encouraged the wider adoption of an integrated Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) this thinking is a core building block of Defra’s upcoming 25 year plan for the environment.

The Plan, inspired by the 2011 Natural Ecosystem Assessment, the 2011 Natural Environment White Paper and The Natural Capital Committee’s third State of Natural Capital Report, will deliver the Government’s manifesto pledge to improve the environment within a generation.

This interdisciplinary event will bring together land managers, environmental scientists and those engaged in managing all aspects of our water resources to discuss and advise the content of Defra’s 25 year plan and potential shape of post-Brexit farming subsidies, aiming to find cost-effective ways to take action to further improve our water environment, securing supply and protect communities at risk from flooding.

Speakers and agenda to be published shortly.
