Insurance and Flooding Conference - The National Flood Forum

The Government are continuing to negotiate a new Statement of Principles on flooding with the insurance industry. This timely conference will include both public and professional perspectives on the wide range of issues including flood risk and the level of cover, the service that the insurance industry provides and whether the monies that paid by insurers provide value for money. 

The Minister responsible Richard Benyon will present the Government's views; David Rooke (Environment Agency) and James Dalton (Association of British Insurers) will provide clear idea the major issues that are being tackled.

At a time of unprecedented change in household insurance and funding for flood protection, the conference aims to examine what this means for flood risk communities. It will look at a range of perspectives from the major players and most importantly what individuals and communities expect from the insurance and investment agenda so that the NFF can direct its advocacy and support in the most constructive way.

The objectives of the conference are to:

  • Listen to and promote the views of people at risk of flooding on insurance and investment

  • Understand the new partnership funding for schemes form a community perspective

  • Understand the perspectives of the insurance industry, the Environment Agency and Government

  • Promote networking between community groups and individuals, to share knowledge and experiences
