Waterwise Annual Conference 2021

Mainstreaming water efficiency: averting a UK water crisis

15th to 19th March

This year’s Waterwise Conference ‘Mainstreaming water efficiency: averting a UK water crisis’ will be held digitally from 15th to 19th March 2021.

The Annual Waterwise Conference has been the major national water efficiency event in the UK since 2007. Environment Agency Chief Executive Sir James Bevan opened the 2019 conference with his now infamous ‘Jaws of Death’ speech, and the Waterwise Conference was all over the national news! In 2020 due to Covid-19 we migrated our conference into our very first digital event, which was hugely successful, with hundreds of delegates and some great speakers and discussions.

We are continuing with the digital format for the 2021 conference and the theme this year will be Mainstreaming Water Efficiency: averting a UK water crisis. Reflecting the critical role of water efficiency in both mitigating and adapting to the climate emergency, as well as to the environment and right across society and the economy, we’re pushing for it to take its rightful place in the heart of those discussions!

Conference sessions will look at the role of Ambition, Housing, People and Comms, Business, Energy and Net Zero, and Environment in Mainstreaming Water Efficiency. Sessions will last two hours, from 10am - 12 noon on Monday to Friday plus 1 - 3pm on Thursday. As well as key contributions from water companies across the UK, we are delighted to announce a wide variety of high-level speakers, including

  • David Black - Chief Regulation Officer, Ofwat
  • Emma Clancy - Chief Executive, Consumer Council for Water
  • Susan Davy - Chief Executive, South West Water
  • Tom Heap - Science, environment and rural affairs broadcaster, on Countryfile, Costing the Earth and Panorama
  • Christine McGourty - Chief Executive, Water UK
  • Sarah McMath - Chief Executive, MOSL
  • Luke Pollard MP - Shadow Environment Secretary
  • Tracey Teague - Acting CEO, Northern Ireland Environment Agency

… with many more to be announced, so watch this space!
