Developing new best practise guidance for service reservoirs and water towers

Date: 5th July 2016

Location: Central Birmingham TBC

This industry workshop is being run by UKWIR and the Water Industry Forum as part of the UKWIR Project RG05B207 - Service reservoir asset management toolkit.

Service Reservoirs & Water Towers constitute a significant asset base in the water industry. In order to manage these assets now and in the future, Water Companies need to understand the best operational practices in these areas as well as potential strategies to allow better risk management.

This research project (Service Reservoir Asset Management Toolkit) will gather detailed information on the current strategies and techniques employed in the asset management of service reservoirs and water towers and their component parts.  The output will be a series of guidance documents which will present UK best practise for operating and maintaining existing assets and enhancing asset life.  The output will also be used a decision support tool for expenditure planning, reviewing cost and asset life enhancement benefits as part of total expenditure (TOTEX).

This joint seminar/workshop will aim to validate the interim outputs from the UKWIR research project around this topic and to influence the future direction of the research. This is an opportunity to highlight and share best practice through the whole asset lifecycle of service reservoirs and water towers and their component parts and to review the current findings of the research project.

More details coming soon.
