Nature of business

Manufacturer and distributor of reagents for automatic monitors for clean and dirty water QA.

Details of business

Vickers Laboratories is the UK’s leading manufacturer of reagents for use in automatic analysers in the Water Industry. Operating out of its purpose built manufacturing site in Leeds, the company manufactures, stocks and distributes reagents under both Vickers and partner brands.

Their typical customers are not only sites in utilities and industrial processing operations, but also some of the biggest names in process instrumentation, manufacture and maintenance. The benefit for their customers is that Vickers are able to take control of their whole chemicals supply chain from the design of the product, right the way through to manufacturing, stockholding and despatch of goods to the ultimate consumer in the correctly branded labels and paperwork. This has huge cost savings attached.

The company is licensed by the Environment Agency under IPPC, and previously under its predecessor legislation. This means that the business has been formally audited by the regulator since 1995, and has demonstrated a year on year improvement in its environmental performance.
The company is registered to ISO 9001:2000 Quality Standard and is currently working towards achieving ISO 17024. The benefit of ISO Quality Standards is the continuity of supply of quality products, manufactured to the same specification every time, with traceability back to raw materials, ensuring Vickers buffers and reagents work with all monitors.

Over the years Vickers Laboratories have won numerous prestigious awards including the “Environmental Technology Best Practice Programme” and “Product Innovation & People” and the The IMechE Mx Award, competing against major blue chip companies, such as Rolls Royce and Astra Zeneca.
