New Appointments to WIF Board

We are pleased to announce that two new non-executive directors have joined Roger Hyde on the board of Water Industry Forum Limited.  They are Mark Fletcher, Director at Arup, and Prof. Adrian McDonald from Leeds University. Peter Drake, WIF Chief Executive, said “I am delighted that Mark and Adrian have joined the board. Both share our desire to bring the UK industry together to tackle the major challenges facing the industry over the coming years.  Mark’s extensive supply chain experience and Adrian’s highly respected academic research combine well with Roger’s wide experience of environmental management and regulation.”

Roger Hyde

Roger Hyde

Roger has extensive experience of environmental and regulatory management. Currently a director of Enviro-Solve Ltd, Roger originally graduated from the University of Sheffield and qualified as an accountant, working in local government and then the water industry. Roger served as a regional director of the Environment Agency and chief executive and director of Entrust Ltd.  Current non-executive directorships include Yorkshire Water Services Ltd, Yorkshire Chemical Focus Ltd and Intelligent Formulation Ltd.

Mark Fletcher

Mark Fletcher

Mark is a director of Arup and leads their UK Middle East and Africa water business. He has over 25 years in water management across the water cycle from groundwater, water supply, water treatment, wastewater treatment, sewerage, asset management, sustainable waterways and flood risk management. A chartered engineering geologist and chartered engineer, he is also an honorary visiting professor at Bradford University and a visiting professor with the Royal Academy of Engineering.  He also sits on the Water Security Advisory Group at NERC and the Leeds City Region LEP Economic Drivers and Innovation Panel.

Prof. Adrian McDonald

Prof. Adrian McDonald

Adrian has extensive research experience of working in environmental management, particularly in partnership with the water industry. His research interests at Leeds University have focused on resource assessment, natural hazards, microbial dynamics, water colour processes and control, catchment planning and risk, decision support systems, and water demand assessment. Adrian is a member of the group set up in 2010 by Government's Chief Scientific Advisor, Sir John Beddington, to develop a UK Water and Innovation Research Framework with the objective of providing an overarching framework and mechanism for commissioning, prioritising and delivering water research and innovation across the UK.
