WIF / Severn Trent Supplier Event a huge success

“The event gave a platform for companies to demonstrate their commitment to innovation.  Representations came from framework and non-framework suppliers allowing the OSC (One Supply Chain) to challenge existing template designs to bring value.   An excellent event and I look forward to the next one”.  Matthew Rogers, Design and Innovation Manager at NMC Nomenca

“It was a great networking event and the format of having a number of short presentations in quick-fire succession worked really well”.  Kevin Gaunt, Severn Trent’s Design and Builds Standards Manager

“From talking to one of the suppliers there is the potential to save around £1.5 million at one of the sites alone”.  Bill Lomas, Costain Framework Director

The Severn Trent and Water Industry Forum Innovation Exhibition was held on the 23rd March, to connect suppliers’ innovative processes and products to Severn Trent Water’s capital delivery requirements for AMP5.

The event was backed by a personal invite from Severn Trent Purchasing Director, Andrew Hill.

Severn Trent’s Innovations and Skills Manager, Emily Timmins said that from Severn Trent’s perspective it had been extremely successful “Given our huge capital projects, we are faced with a key business driver – the need to save money.  The idea for the event was to bring in new ideas from outside, that challenges our thinking and lead us to ways of working differently and saving money”.

The format of the event was based on ‘speed dating and an exhibition’.  Members of the Water Industry Forum were invited to exhibit and also to give a short presentation to the attendees from Severn Trent’s OSC.  “The format of having short presentations was excellent, particularly since areas of interest could be followed up through visits to the relevant stands”.  This was a view repeated throughout the day.

Overall the feedback was very positive with:-

  • 92% of the attendees rating the event as being good or excellent

  • 86% of the exhibitors rating the event as being good or excellent

“Best seminar / exhibition I have attended for quality of attendees and enquiries received.  Prospects for future business look very promising”.  Brian Gibson, Nivus
