Water Companies join WIF

The Water Industry Forum is delighted to announce that five UK water companies have signed up to date to become “water company partners”.  They are Northumbrian Water, Scottish Water, Severn Trent Water, United Utilities and Yorkshire Water.

Steve Whipp, Head of Innovation at United Utilities said “We really welcome WIF’s initiative.  The future presents us with some major challenges that can only be solved if the industry comes together and collaborates on the innovative solutions required.”

He went on to say “WIF’s plans for round table discussions and workshops with all the key stakeholders, and their strong desire to ‘make something happen’, represents an excellent step in the right direction – one that we fully support.”

Each water company partner will benefit from:

  • a bespoke event or intervention to address a specific challenge in their company using the knowledge, experience and involvement of WIF’s network of 280+ suppliers

  • a quarterly “partner” round table discussions which address cross industry issues

  • special “cross industry” interest groups facilitated by WIF

  • access to the new WIF web based “information exchange” (under development)

  • use of the new WIF web based “open innovation portal” (under development).

WIF now has plans to recruit “industry partners” from the contractors, consultants and research institutions working as tier 1 framework partners with the water companies.  Although it is still early days, Arup, Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions and JN Bentley have already signed up.
